This work was made for a capstone subject of the Master of Media program at RMIT and informs part of my research into the affective qualities of light. The work acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation where this work was filmed and I reside. I acknowledge I am a visitor to these lands which are stolen and continue to be pillaged by colonialism. I pay my respect to Elders past, present and emerging. I actively use my position of privilege to work as an ally for a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's land, culture, traditions and language is restored.

An Invitation: Spring is just arriving. The mild warmth of sun streaming life back into Melbourne. Waking our mourning from its dark and deadly winter. The city wakes slowly. Light streaming down cobble stones lanes, dancing on glass that reaches for the sky.  The silent fragility anew. A kind of baptism from the darkness. One starts to feel that everything in existence breathes and exhales the subtle glowing energy (Lispector, 1992). There is something about the early spring light; familiar and surprising. The tree lined streets bursting with leaves and flowers that will eventually shade us from the summer sun that follows. The winds racing from the north bring warmth to our bones. Energy. Light isn't only in the seasons, it nurtures every system of existence. Dancing frequencies are an emotional narrative because energy by nature is inclusive (Elliason, 2016). It is pervasive and present, we emit light, we create light, we require light. It shifts and shapes, setting the rhythm of our day (Ramus, 2020). Light itself is unseen but rather an experience we feel. Light is an invitation to happiness... a kind of holiness, palpable and redemptive, when done right. (Oliver, 1992) Just like this, the spring light.
